The tutorial
I've wanted to do a tutorial on skin cleaning for quite a while now - it doesn't go into all the details, but it should help to get started :) Feel free to tell me what you think or if you have suggestions on how to improve it. Done in photoshop, 7 hours, 800x5673px. Yay!

Contents
Currently, the tutorial covers the following techniques:

- Using the healing brush and spot healing brush tools
- Using the clone stamp tool
- Using the dodge and burn tools
- Using the blur tool
- Using the Dust & scratches filter
- Using the remove noise filter

Resources
If you want to try out these techniques while reading, I suggest you grab a copy of Banshee696's "New hair style 2" deviation that I used in the tutorial. You can have a look at the final result of the cleaning in my "Lizards rule" deviation.

Wonderful, precise and to the point. I read the whole thing (<---short reading attention span).
Nice work.

that was a cool tutoral, such a thing really does make a difference in the overall finished product. my method for this is slightly different but yours is more effective and makes more use of the tools in photoshop. i have been reading quite a few tutorals lately.

Knowing I could help is the best feedback of all, thanks for the comment :D I'm curious however - how do you normally do it?

I would copy an area that is unblemished and paste it underneath in a separate layer. then on the top layer, i would use a low-strength eraser until the area is erased and replaced (it rhymes lol).
