Background
This shot was taken at the "Lac de Pierre percée" lake in northern france, when the temperatures were starting to rise just a bit after a rather cold winter. It was quite surreal, as the surface of the lake was one giant mirror, and there was nobody there but me and my wife - and no sounds. It was beautiful, too - crystal clear water with ice and old treestumps like this. I especially liked the litte sand dunes underwater.
Technique
Shot taken with my 3.3 Mpixel digital camera. No edits apart from the border and one slight level adjustment.
very surreal....I really like the graphism of the whole picture and the dense contrast...you may have felt the sensation of tranquility over there hence the name ...I rather have a feeling of devastation here...
nice work..

hehehh it's funny.. because "I especially liked the litte sand dunes underwater". It's the first thing that has called my attention of this pic.. wow.. it's definetly a weird pic... if you look at the sand underwater it reminds you to the dessert, but with the ice on top.. so it's like a chilling dessert! hhehehe
Thanks for the comment! You are right about the devastation, depending on how you look at it
It is really quite interesting to see what different people think of when they see this picture. Pzychonoir for instance directly saw the little sand dunes and thought of an icy desert
